VIENNA SYSTEM
The Vienna Classification is an international system for coding the figurative elements of trademarks, adopted by WIPO in 1973 and used in most countries including Uzbekistan. Every visual element of a mark gets one or more codes — for example, 'sun with rays' is 1.3.6, 'lion in motion' is 3.1.6.
When a trademark application with figurative elements is filed, the examiner at the Intellectual Property Agency must index it under this system and search registered marks with the same codes. If identical or similar imagery exists in the same NICE classes, the application can be refused.
That's why knowing your logo's codes BEFORE filing matters — it lets you assess risk and tweak the design if needed.
Applicant lists one obvious element (e.g. 'tree') but misses background shapes or geometry. The examiner adds the missing codes and hits a registered mark. The application stalls in correspondence or is refused.
The most common trap: people check only the visual, ignoring the wordmark portion. If a word similar to yours is already registered in the same class, refusal is almost guaranteed.
About a million international marks filed via the Madrid System are in force in Uzbekistan. msp.uz only covers the national base by default — that's not enough.
The same logo in different NICE classes is a different trademark. Without proper class analysis, applications often end up in the wrong class, leaving protection effectively meaningless.
The free tool above is the best you can do in 30 seconds on your own. Here's an honest comparison.
HOW IT WORKS
Send the logo and describe your business. We confirm the NICE classes on one call.
A lawyer runs the extended check and sends the written opinion within one business day.
If a conflict is found, we propose logo tweaks or an alternative filing strategy.
We prepare the application, pay the fees, and submit it to the IP Agency.
We respond to examiner queries and see the case through to certificate. 12–18 months.
We use the WIPO Vienna Classification Assistant — the official tool from the World Intellectual Property Organization. Accuracy for typical commercial logos is 85–95%. Complex abstract compositions may have gaps, which is why we recommend a professional check before filing.
No. A Vienna code search shows potential figurative conflicts but doesn't account for: phonetic similarity to wordmarks, NICE-class context, well-known marks, or domain names. There are also data-source limitations on msp.uz. So even a 'clean' result is not a substitute for a proper pre-filing check.
No. The image is forwarded to the WIPO Vienna Assistant for analysis and is not retained by us or by WIPO after the result is returned. If you order a professional check, we'll ask you to re-send the logo through our secure intake form.
From UZS 500,000 per NICE class. The price covers: search across all Uzbekistan databases and the Madrid register, phonetic and graphic analysis, and a written opinion with risk level and recommendations. Use the calculator or ask a lawyer for the exact quote.
